Overview

A question box that lives on the product page

Ask about product is a Talkom block you place directly on your Shopify product pages. It lets a shopper ask about the exact item they are looking at and get an instant, accurate answer from Talkom AI, without scrolling through a long description or leaving the page.

Talkom reads the product and generates relevant questions on its own. The shopper taps one, gets an answer grounded in the store's product data, and can keep asking follow-ups if they want.

Why it works

They land, then hesitate

Most shoppers reach a product page and pause. Very few read the full description, it is long and it is work. In a physical store they would just ask someone standing nearby. Online, that option usually does not exist, so they hesitate and often leave.

Ask about product closes that gap. The question is one tap away, and the answer appears in the same spot where the shopper is already deciding. That is often the difference between a shopper who is unsure and one who adds to cart.

The core idea. Relevant questions sit right on the product page. Shoppers ask, get an instant answer, and decide.

In the wild

What shoppers see

The block sits inside the product details, near the buy button, where questions naturally come up. Talkom generates the questions per product, so a rainwater tank and a sport jacket each get their own relevant set.

Demo store. On a sport jacket the questions shift to fit and care, the things a shopper actually hesitates over before buying.

Display styles

Choose how it appears

When you add the block you pick a display style. All three put the answer in the same place, they just differ in how the shopper starts the conversation.

Button
A single button, for example "Ask Talkom about this product". When the shopper clicks it, Talkom loads the product into context and the shopper phrases their own question. You control the button text and border radius.

Suggestions - Recommended

Three relevant, AI generated questions shown as chips. One click and Talkom starts answering instantly. Lowest friction, and usually the most engagement.

Both

Shows the button and the suggested questions together, so the shopper decides which route they prefer.

Recommended: Suggestions. The one click path removes the most friction, so more shoppers actually engage and get to an answer.

Activation

How to set it up

You can turn Ask about product on from the Talkom app, or add it yourself in the theme editor. Neither needs code, and you place the block wherever it fits best.

  • Activate from Talkom app

  1. Go to Talkom > Appearance.

  2. Under Theme list, select the theme you want to activate the feature on.

  3. On the Ask About Product card, click Activate (or Customize).

Talkom opens the theme editor and adds the Ask About Product block for you. From there you just position it.

Talkom > Appearance > pick the theme > Activate on the Ask About Product card.

  • Or add it in the theme editor

Open a product template, and inside a section such as Product information > Details, click Add block, type "talk", and choose Talkom Ask About Product.

Add block > search "talkom" > Talkom Ask About Product.

  • Position it and set the design

Drag the block to where you want it, then set it up in the panel on the right:

  • Display style: Button, Suggestions, or Both. Suggestions is recommended.

  • Label of the suggestions: the heading above the questions, for example "Ask Talkom about this product".

  • Border radius: round the corners to match the store.

  • Custom CSS: optional, for exact styling.

When it looks right, click Save. The block goes live on every product page using that template.

Move the block into place, then set display style, label, border radius, and any custom CSS.
